The Green Point Education Garden (GPPEG) is an extension of the highly successful Green Point Urban Park and developed by the City of Cape Town’s environmental Education Unit at a cost of R4m in 2019
The GPPEG incorporates features that engage and activate all senses – touch, taste, sight, smell and sound, by drawing on the four elements of nature – earth, wind, water and fire. The environmental education activities will include artwork elements that reinforce the idea of reconnecting children and people to the environment. The landscape architectural component included the design of various custom play and educational features, in collaboration with local craftsmen, as well as specialised planting parterres and water features.
