Subsequent to the design and implementation of the East Garden, it was proposed to extend the visual axis in grand fashion through the establishment of an arboretum.
The east garden was designed with a central axis flanked by parterre gardens, including the ‘Agapanthus Garden’. It was now proposed to extend the visual axis eastwards through the phased planting of a forest of new trees framing the view towards the mountains beyond.
Consisting of hundreds of new trees the avenue thus created in time would constitute an a unparalleled vista.
OvP were requested to provide definition to this project by outlining the design principles and providing a concept layout at masterplan scale to inform and guide the development, to be achieved through an incremental design and implementation approach.
